I confess that I naively thought I knew a fair number of ASIS members here in the Puget Sound Chapter. But after being handed a copy of the membership roster following my election as the Chairman of the Chapter for 2011, I realized the error of my thinking!

In the coming year, I hope to accomplish a personal goal of speaking with each of you, if not in person at one of our monthly meetings, then at least by phone. I am honored by the opportunity to serve as Chairman, and will do my best to fulfill your expectations of both the position of Chairman, as well as for the continued improvement of our Chapter.

As a dues-paying member of ASIS International, you have every right to expect a maximum return on your investment. No organization seeking to exceed customer expectations can accomplish that goal without getting feedback from its customers. If there is anything we as an organization can do to improve the value (or lack thereof) you are getting as a member, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or one of the other members of the Executive Committee.

Speaking of the Executive Committee, we are very fortunate to have David Ewton as our Vice Chairman, Lt. Charlie Gorman CPP as our Secretary and Don Pilker CPP as the Treasurer. In addition to this more than capable team, we also have an outstanding roster of members filling various committee positions. And if you are looking for something to do to fill your “spare” time, there are still committee positions available.

In closing, I want to thank the 2010 Executive Committee members who have moved on to other endeavors: Walter Sinchak (Chairman) and Jenny Benedict (Secretary) who did a fantastic job. They are leaving some big shoes to fill, and your feedback will help us do just that.
