Chapter Chairman: David Ewton
David Ewton is a security industry leader with a successful career and progressive experience in management, business development, marketing, IT solutions, system design, technical training and installation. Currently, Mr. Ewton is the District Sales Manager for Bosch Security’s video solutions.
In 1996, Mr. Ewton started his career in physical security as a commercial sales representative with SecurityLink from Ameritech. Shortly after working for SecurityLink he founded an alarm company and became an Oregon and Washington low voltage contractor. “One of the reasons for starting my company was to instill customer confidence by providing unparalleled customer service. As an Oregon JLE and Washington Master Electrician 06, my customers were thrilled to know that I possessed the skill set to sell, design and deploy a complete security and fire alarm solution.” In 2004, he sold the company assets in order to take a year off to spend time with his family.
Interested in learning about other facets of the security industry, Mr. Ewton became the territory manager in 2005 for TaylorLong and Associates, a leading security manufacturer’s representative association in the Pacific Northwest. Graybar recruited Mr. Ewton in 2008 as their District Market Manager for Security and Low Voltage. While working with Graybar, “I was thrilled to have developed and implemented security marketing initiatives for our six state district in which many of the initiatives were adopted by my counter parts throughout the country.”
On March 8th, 2010 Bosch Security Systems announced David Ewton as District Sales Manager for the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Ewton’s immediate responsibilities include: channel sales management, business development, and leveraging market trends to identify and design integrated enterprise security and fire alarm solutions. “Having immersed himself in the industry for the last twenty years, he adeptly identifies customers’ challenges and readily provides them with effective solutions. As a result of Mr. Ewton’s professional accomplishments and contribution the industry, he currently holds executive board positions with the Washington Electronic Security Association, and holding dual roles of the ASIS Region 1 Assistant Regional Vice President and Chapter Chair for Puget Sound Chapter #051. During Mr. Ewton’s career he has been factory trained, certified and provided design services, installation support, technical assistance and trained people in many of today’s leading physical security solutions.
Vice Chairman: John Manning
John is a graduate from The American University in Washington, DC with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. John spent the next five years working with the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department. He worked as a patrol officer and detective. John changed departments when he moved to Washington State and started working as a police officer for the Bellevue Police Department.
John spent the next 20 years there and held assignments including Narcotic Investigation as a DEA Task Force Agent, Hostage Negotiator, K-9, and SWAT (both as a Team Leader and Commander.) John is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. In 2010, John was the recipient of the ASIS Leadership award when he held the rank of Captain.
John left law enforcement in 2015 to take a position working with Microsoft. He is working with the Global Security Technology Team in development of new virtual security operation strategies. Responsible for key deliverables of operational and physical security technology research, work flow analysis, interviews with security practitioners, and working with external vendors and partners.
Board Secretary: Bettina Stefanak PCI, ACFE, IAMI
Bettina has been a licensed investigator for 8 years with a wide range of experience in fraud investigations. She began her career as an investigator in Vancouver, Canada in 2006, working for the Canadian K9 Group’s investigation division, where she specialized in insurance fraud and surveillance operations. Bettina was assigned the position of lead investigator and ultimately case manager in 2008, managing accounts and supervising a small team of investigators. During her time with CKG she became an active member of ASIS International and the Canadian Pacific Chapter as their Volunteer Coordinator.
Bettina was part of the Vancouver Operation Co-operation Society, a joint operation between private security, local businesses and the Vancouver Police Department to combat property crime in the district 1 area of Vancouver. She left CKG Investigations in 2009 to work independently and as a contractor to other firms, such as Ravenhill Risk Control and Lions Gate Investigations.
Prior to moving to Seattle in 2013, Bettina lived in London, England where she earned the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) designation in 2012. She is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI).
Bettina was born and raised in Switzerland, holds a degree in Commerce and speaks 3 languages; English, German and French. Before becoming an investigator she owned a small interior design firm in Vancouver, Canada and enjoys an extensive background in aviation and the marine industry.
Board Treasurer: Autumn Fowler
Autumn is a graduate from University of Washington School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree.
She spent 3 years working for Lynnwood PD before moving on to Bellevue PD in 1997. As a detective for 5 years at Bellevue PD, Autumn began the Special Assault Unit, developing new policies and procedures in the way that crimes against children and domestic violence were handled. She was also the first supervisor for the department’s Crowd Control team, which has continued to grow as protests become a regular occurrence for departments around the region.
Autumn has a strong familiarity with Human Resources, previously working as the Commander of BPD’s hiring and training unit for several years. In this role, Autumn managed a million-dollar training and equipment budget and also oversaw all hiring of both civilian and commissioned staff.
She has enjoyed working with several other departments across the nation on their promotional testing and selection processes, a function she still participates in today.
Events Programs Board Member: John Glynn
John is a graduate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and has since worked professionally in the Retail, Banking and Private Security industries.
John gained his retail experience with The Sports Authority for almost 10 years, followed by his financial specialization with Bank of America and then private security for the past 11 years with Securitas Security Services USA. As a security professional, he has gained many certifications and has lead a large team of folks, along with developing numerous training and security programs in such areas as Healthcare, Maritime and Food Processing, to name a few.
John now oversees one of the largest transit contracts for Securitas USA for the King County Metro. He is professionally affiliated with and/or volunteers with the following organizations: The Employer Support for Guards and Reserves (ESGR) – as The WA State Employer Outreach Director, American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM).
